itag Skillnet is supporting companies operating in the technology sector across the West, North-West and Mid-West regions of Ireland, providing high-quality, subsidised training and networking opportunities. Its range of programmes includes advanced technology-focused upskilling such as digital strategy, AI, data analytics and leadership development.
One business experiencing the benefits of this investment in upskilling is Storm Technology Ltd, a leading technology solutions provider that helps organisations across sectors harness digital tools and drive transformation for growth.
A long-standing collaborator of itag Skillnet, Storm Technology engaged with the Network’s Postgraduate Certificate in AI for Professionals. Storm had identified an immediate need to increase organisational confidence in AI, not just at a technical level, but to shape how teams embed AI into customer solutions and internal operations.
Delivered through a partnership between itag Skillnet and University of Galway, the programme built practical skills and strategic insight into AI, enabling the Storm team to better understand how to leverage emerging AI applications and apply this knowledge to client projects, decision-making and internal strategy.
Dee Timoney, Network Manager at itag Skillnet, explained: “We design our programmes in close collaboration with industry and academia to ensure they meet evolving business needs. With AI changing so rapidly, this course supports professionals to build the confidence and understanding required to lead their organisations through technological disruption.”
Karl Flannery, CEO, Storm Technology, said the programmes has helped his teams to identify ways to integrate AI successfully across the business. Speaking about the benefits of the ongoing collaboration with itag Skillnet, he said: “We started working with itag Skillnet about 15 years ago, and it’s been a very productive relationship. Most of our employees have engaged in training with itag Skillnet and it’s been very much tailored to the needs of Storm. For a business, upskilling and training is critical. We are a knowledge-based economy now. Most companies we’re involved with, it’s all about knowledge and skills, so keeping that up to date and bringing in new ideas and new skills and technologies into an organisation is fundamental.”
