CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet has announced the launch of a cutting-edge new programme, the Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence in Supply Chain Management, starting in September 2025. This fully online, Level 9 NFQ qualification has been developed by Atlantic Technological University in collaboration with CILT Mobility and Supply Chain Skillnet in response to the growing demand for digitally skilled professionals. The programme is tailored for supply chain and logistics professionals who want to lead in the era of AI-driven transformation.

Dave Flynn, Director of Business Networks, Skillnet Ireland, said: “Qualifications like the one offered through this specialised programme are so important to the Irish workforce to provide a highly skilled pipeline of specialist talent. The development of this programme by CILT Mobility Supply Chain Skillnet, in collaboration with the Atlantic Technological University, is a great example of the real-world upskilling for specific sectors and specialisms that is available through the Skillnet Ireland model. I look forward to the successful graduation of the first intake of learners and wish them every success in their future careers.”

The course will focus on equipping participants with hands-on expertise in applying artificial intelligence to real-world challenges such as demand forecasting, risk mitigation, and the development of circular and sustainable supply chains.

James Kearney, Network Manager of CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet, said: "This new programme, which is co-funded by the Government of Ireland, the European Union, and network companies is a game-changer for Ireland’s supply chain workforce. AI is no longer optional — it’s fundamental to remaining competitive and resilient. Supporting Irish companies specialising in transport, logistics and supply chain management, throughout the digital and AI transition is a key part of making people, businesses, and the economy strong and ready for the future within these sectors."

The Postgraduate Certificate Programme will run over three-semesters, and will award 30 ECTS credits, which is the equivalent to half of a full-time academic programme. It is structured around three specialist ten-credit modules:

  • Semester 1: AI-Driven Demand Forecasting
  • Semester 2: AI in Supply Chain Risk Management
  • Semester 3: AI-Enabled Decisions in Circular Supply Chains

Each module includes interactive online lectures and workshops, providing both strategic insight and practical skill development.

The programme is aligned with key national and European priorities, which will be of interest to senior professionals working in this area, including the Irish Government’s AI – Here for Good strategy (2021), the EU Green Deal, Digital Compass, and Circular Economy Action Plan, as well as priorities outlined by Ireland’s National Logistics and Supply Chain Skills Group, such as digitalisation and risk management.

Entry Requirements: Applicants must hold a Level 8 honours degree (H2.2 or higher) in a relevant field. Candidates with suitable experience may also apply via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

For professionals and businesses looking to build future-ready, AI-enabled supply chains, this certificate offers not only technical know-how but also the strategic vision to drive responsible innovation and sustainability.
