Rural Enterprise Skillnet: Women in Construction
In 2024, Rural Enterprise Skillnet delivered a Women in Construction training programme in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. This ESF+ funded programme is designed to empower learners to commence employment, or to facilitate their return to the workforce. It is structured to provide an in-depth knowledge and understanding of construction work, including health and safety and operating construction machinery.
A key focus for the Network was to work with learners, many aged between 18-22, to address perceptions about construction work through mentoring and input from women already employed in the sector. Future versions of the Women in Construction programme are underway driven by strong demand from employers in the Northwest for graduates.
